Creative Culture Shock Remedies

· Enjoy a walk in a beautiful part of town that makes you feel like you're on vacation again.

· Try tram/bus/metro surfing. Make up a Bingo card with a friend and travel around on unfamiliar routes looking for the items on your list. ("Blue-haired old lady…check!")

· Make a list of endearing things about your students (the stuff you'll miss one day when you're no longer here!)

· Laugh with a friend about all the things that make the Czech Republic "special"…the mind-boggling variety of toilet styles and flushing mechanisms contrasted with the utter lack of creativity in door handles, for one.

· Write yourself a post card about what a fabulous time you're having overseas and mail it to yourself, just to get some mail.

· Write a 250 word essay comparing what you thought life would be like in the Czech Republic and what it's actually like. Remember halfway through that you're a teacher now and you don't have to write essays any more!

· Learn a new Czech word and try it out with your students. They'll love it!

· Start a gratitude list and express your thanks to God ever day for the ways He's stretching you through this new experience of living overseas!
